Panic in Uttarakhand's Almora as Leopard Attacks Leave Six Injured
Barangal village in the Syaldey region of Almora district was struck by terror on Sunday as a leopard attacked six individuals in separate incidents. The victims, including a teenager, sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the Primary Health Center (PHC) in Deghat for treatment.
The attacks began in the morning when two Nepali laborers working on a road were mauled by the wild animal. Shortly after, the leopard struck again, targeting three others in the village. Later in the day, a teenage boy became the latest victim, intensifying fear among the villagers, who have since confined themselves indoors.
In response, a team of 22 forest department officials, led by Ranger Umesh Pandey, was dispatched to the area to patrol and implement safety measures. A cage trap has been arranged to capture the leopard, and villagers have been urged to avoid venturing outside until the threat is neutralized.
This incident adds to the rising cases of human-wildlife conflict in Uttarakhand, a region frequently plagued by leopard attacks. Forest officials are working to secure the area and prevent further harm while urging the public to remain cautious and report any sightings promptly.
