Donald Trump Jr. Accused of Illegally Hunting Protected Duck in Italy
Washington : Donald Trump Jr. is facing allegations of illegally hunting a protected duck species in Italy, sparking strong reactions from environmentalists and politicians. A video published by Field Ethos, a website founded by Trump Jr., reportedly shows him shooting ducks in a protected area near Venice, including the rare Ruddy Shelduck.
Environmentalists Condemn Trump Jr.'s Actions
Italian environmentalist and politician Andrea Zanoni has condemned the incident, stating that hunting the Ruddy Shelduck is a criminal offense under Italian law and the European Union’s Birds Directive.
According to Zanoni, Trump Jr. allegedly hunted without a valid license and killed birds in a conservation area.
“The Veneto region and Italy are not the property of the USA,” Zanoni stated, confirming that he has filed a complaint with the Italian judiciary.
Legal Action and Political Reactions
Italian MP Luana Zanella has escalated the complaint to the Environment Ministry, seeking an explanation and action against the incident.
Monica Sambo of the Democratic Party of Venice has also raised concerns, saying, “Protected species are being killed in the Venice lagoon, a conservation area that should be safeguarded.”
Past Hunting Controversies
This is not the first time Trump Jr. has faced backlash over hunting. In 2019, he was criticized for killing an Argali mountain sheep in Mongolia without the proper permits. His website, Field Ethos, has also been accused of promoting trophy hunting.
The controversy has renewed debate over hunting regulations and conservation laws in Italy, with growing calls for strict enforcement against violations.
