Fall River, Massachusetts – In a peculiar turn of events, 33-year-old Robert Langlais faces multiple charges after a failed attempt to elude police led him to get trapped in a chimney. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening during a police operation at a residence on Canal Street.

According to reports from USA Today, Fall River Police Department's Community Action & Suppression Team (CAST) was executing a search warrant when Langlais, apparently seeking an escape route, climbed onto the roof and attempted to hide inside a chimney. The plan quickly backfired, leaving him stuck and requiring rescue.

Bodycam footage captured by detectives at the scene shows them illuminating Langlais with a flashlight and audibly chastising him for his decision. "You're an idiot," one officer remarked as they instructed him to show his hands. Emergency response teams, including the fire department and Emergency Medical Services, were promptly called to the scene to assist. The rescue operation involved breaking part of the chimney to free him.

After being extracted from his precarious position, Langlais was transported to a local hospital as a precautionary measure where he was medically cleared. He was subsequently arrested and now faces charges related to possession of Class A and Class B drugs, along with several other offenses stemming from outstanding warrants.

The incident quickly gained attention on social media, with the Fall River Police Department detailing the ordeal in a Facebook post that has since gone viral. Social media users have expressed a mix of amusement and disbelief at the unusual nature of the escape attempt, with comments praising the humorous recounting of the event by police.

This bizarre story serves as a stark reminder of the unexpected challenges law enforcement officers can face and the lengths to which individuals might go to avoid capture. Langlais is currently in custody as he awaits further legal proceedings.
