Modi Applauds Brazil’s G20 Leadership

Prime Minister Modi congratulated President Lula on successfully hosting the G20 Summit and praised Brazil’s leadership on key global issues. He assured India’s cooperation in advancing initiatives that tackle global food insecurity and poverty, while also addressing pressing concerns such as climate change and sustainable development.

Lula Calls for Bold Climate Action

President Lula also used the G20 platform to highlight the urgent need for global climate action ahead of the COP29 climate talks in Brazil next year. He stressed that progress at COP28 in Azerbaijan must be decisive to prevent deferring critical decisions on combating climate change.

"We cannot leave the task of Baku (Azerbaijan’s capital) until Belem," Lula emphasized, referencing the Amazonian city set to host next year’s UN climate summit.

Modi’s Upcoming Visit to Guyana

Following the G20 Summit, PM Modi will embark on a historic visit to Guyana at the invitation of President Mohamed Irfaan Ali. This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Guyana in over 50 years, reflecting India’s strategic focus on strengthening ties with the Global South.

Strengthening India-Brazil Relations
