India Contributes $37.64 Million to UN Regular Budget for 2025

United Nations – India has reaffirmed its commitment to the United Nations by making a timely contribution of USD 37.64 million towards the UN Regular Budget for 2025. The country joins a select group of 35 member states that have paid their full assessments within the 30-day due period stipulated by UN financial regulations.

The UN Committee on Contributions confirmed that India successfully met its financial obligations by remitting the payment on January 31, 2025. This punctual contribution places India on the UN’s “honour roll”—a recognition for nations that uphold their financial commitments to the global body without delays.

UN Secretary-General's Office Acknowledges India’s Commitment

During the daily press briefingStephane Dujarric, Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General António Guterres, extended appreciation to India, stating, “We thank our friends in India.” He also acknowledged the country’s consistent track record of fulfilling its financial obligations to the UN on time.

India’s Role as a Responsible UN Member State

India’s unwavering support for multilateralism and global governance is further highlighted by its continued commitment to UN contributions. The country has been a steadfast partner in international cooperation, consistently paying its dues in full.

UN General Assembly President Philemon Yang, who is scheduled to visit India from February 4-8, recently acknowledged India’s reliability as a UN member state. In an interview with PTI, he remarked, “India continues to fulfil its obligation as a member state of the UN by paying its dues in full and on time.”

This timely contribution underscores India’s longstanding commitment to the United Nations and its dedication to strengthening global governance through financial and diplomatic support.
