Can you tell us something about yourself, your early life, and your education?
I have always wanted to be a lawyer from the age of 15. I come from a family of lawyers. I was always quiet and shy, stayed away from physical activities and sports that children often delve into. I would spend several hours reading books, novels, comics and magazines. I performed pretty well in A Level law as a student in the UK, coming top of my class in exams each time and decided to continue my law studies at University.

What led you to your current profession or field of expertise?
I have always been intrigued by commerce and the business world and hence decided to specialise as a commercial lawyer when I was admitted to the profession in the UK several years ago

I established AASOLICITORS with a clear mission in mind, to fill a void in the legal landscape by providing accessible support to startups and SMEs in the UAE. Recognizing that many entrepreneurs were deterred by the high fees of traditional law firms, I wanted to create a platform that not only offered valuable legal services, but also supported aspiring entrepreneurs, including those at UAE universities.

Effective team work can be built with more knowledge sharing, resource sharing, team support on projects, taking joint accountability when things don’t go well on projects and lastly, building exercises outside work.

A highly innovative firm, we reacted and created online platforms in the height of the Covid 19 pandemic, to offer virtual legal support to business owners and individuals 24/7. Advice for Startups
Any tips for startups looking to get onto a similar pathway?
My biggest concerns with startups and small business owners in the UAE is that they do not take full advantage of the support services around them, especially from lawyers that will enable them to manage legal risks survive a competitive business environment.
Startups should try not to expand too quickly and focus on profitability. They should not do everything on their own, but engage specialist service providers to help them, as well as sign up with a good business coach for guidance. That said, with the right mindset and determination, anything is possible. I encourage startups to keep aiming high and reach for the stars.
