Early Life and Educational Foundation

Tell us about your early life, education, and what led you to do what you are doing today.

I come from a large and close-knit family, both of my parents grew up with 11 siblings, which meant that family gatherings were always lively and filled with warmth. I have three siblings of my own, and growing up in Brazil, my childhood was shaped by the simple joys of playing soccer in the streets, enjoying music, and being surrounded by friends and community. Like many Brazilians, I was immersed in a culture of positivity, collectiveness, and resilience, which shaped my general view on life.

Today, I am 42 years old, happily married, and a proud father of two wonderful children. For about seven years now, we have called Switzerland’s beautiful Rheintal region our home, where we, as a family, embrace local traditions while maintaining a global mindset.

Academically, I hold a Bachelor's degree in Production Engineering and a Master's in Economic Engineering. My journey into operational excellence began at Volkswagen, where I gained hands-on experience in lean manufacturing, learning how to integrate production and logistics into the broader supply chain. This early exposure ignited my passion for efficiency and process optimization. I transitioned into consulting, where I have spent over seven years leading corporate transformation projects across industries. This path led me to my current role at Emmi Group, where I focus on operational excellence, sustainable process improvements, and digital transformation in the food and beverage industry.

Beyond technical expertise, I bring an optimistic and proactive mindset to everything I do. I thrive on solving complex challenges, leading cross-functional teams, and coaching individuals who want to reach their full potential.

Driving Transformation in a global organization

What is your expertise, and what do you do that is unique?

As the Group Head of Operational Excellence at Emmi Group, my expertise lies in driving operational excellence, optimizing end-to-end processes, and leading large-scale transformation initiatives with multifunctional teams. What sets my approach apart is my strong belief in people-driven change.

At Emmi, transformation is not just about implementing new processes, it’s about building a culture where employees at all levels are engaged, empowered, and motivated to drive improvement. Sustainable change happens when teams take ownership rather than simply following top-down mandates.

Leadership, for me, is about trust, empathy, and continuously pushing boundaries to drive meaningful change. My leadership philosophy is built on five key pillars:

  • Creating a clear vision – Understanding the “WHY” and Defining the "what" and "how" while inspiring those around me with strong communication.

  • Providing a protective umbrella – Shielding teams from unnecessary distractions, offering guidance, and keeping motivation and standards high.

  • Leading through empowerment – A leader’s success is measured by their ability to develop successors. I believe that within two years, every leader should be able to prepare talents to  be capable of stepping into their role.

  • Building trust through integrity – Leadership is not about control but about ethical responsibility and setting an example.

  • Maintaining structured routines – Transparency, accountability, and consistency drive continuous progress.

Key Milestones and Achievements

What is one key achievement or milestone you have reached?

I take great pride in my professional journey and the impact of my work. My foundation was built at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, where I pursued my education with dedication. My career began as a trainee at Volkswagen, setting the stage for my growth. At Porsche Consulting, I advanced from consultant to expert, solidifying my expertise in operational excellence. My international journey took shape at Hilti AG, where I embraced new challenges in a new culture. Today, at Emmi AG, I am proud to be driving a global program, shaping the future with passion and purpose.

Beyond just numbers and results, the true achievement lies in the cultural shift, where employees see themselves as active contributors to change rather than passive recipients of directives. This mindset shift is what creates long-term, sustainable success.

Vision for the Future: Expanding Expertise and Innovation

What are your future goals?

Recently, I was talking with my wife about the 25 years of work still ahead of me. While I am proud of what I have achieved so far, I firmly believe there is still plenty room to grow. The world is evolving rapidly, and staying relevant requires continuous learning and adaptation.

My primary goal is to keep expanding my knowledge and staying at the forefront of value creation. Specifically, I am currently focused on deepening my understanding in Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and Post-Merger Integration, as these areas are becoming increasingly crucial for companies navigating transformation.

Additionally, I am particularly interested in how automation, digitalization and AI can reshape business models and enhance operational excellence. The ability to integrate digital solutions seamlessly into supply chain processes is already a key driver  for efficiency and competitiveness.

Beyond professional aspirations, I strive to maintain a healthy balance between personal growth and well-being, recognizing that discipline, consistency, and lifelong learning are the key drivers of success.

Staying Competitive in a Rapidly Evolving Industry

How do you stay competitive in your industry?

Staying competitive requires a mindset of continuous evolution, adaptability, and curiosity. I actively engage in several strategies to ensure I remain ahead of industry trends:

  • Industry research – Keeping up with the latest trends, technological advancements, and best practices through publications and case studies.

  • Networking & collaboration – Engaging with industry peers, exchanging insights, and participating in professional forums. Learning from top performers and applying insights to refine internal processes.
