Massive X Outage Hits India, Users Unable to Post Content
New Delhi: Thousands of users across India faced difficulties accessing X (formerly Twitter) on Monday as the platform suffered multiple outages throughout the day. Reports indicate that the service first went down around 3:30 PM, with additional disruptions occurring later in the evening.
According to Downdetector, a website that tracks real-time service interruptions, the outages peaked around 3:00 PM with nearly 2,200 reports from Indian users. The issues resurfaced at 7:30 PM, with approximately 1,500 complaints, and persisted again at 9:00 PM as users continued to experience difficulties.
Widespread Issues Reported Across Website and App
The technical problems impacted various aspects of the platform’s functionality:
- 52% of complaints were related to issues with the website.
- 41% of users reported problems with the mobile app.
- 8% of cases were linked to server connection failures.
Despite the widespread outage, X has yet to issue an official statement addressing the disruptions.
Recurring Outages Raise Concerns
Monday’s incident marked the third major outage for X in India within a short span, raising concerns among users and businesses that rely on the platform for communication and engagement.
The latest technical issues come as Elon Musk’s social media company faces increasing scrutiny over infrastructure stability and service reliability. Musk, who acquired X in 2022 for $44 billion, has made significant changes to the platform, including staff reductions and operational overhauls, which some experts speculate may be contributing to recurring technical glitches.
For now, users await an official response from X regarding the cause of the outage and any potential measures to prevent further disruptions.
