PG&E Planned Outages During Heat Wave: Customer Concerns
Residents in Placer County have voiced frustration over power outages during June and July, coinciding with peak summer temperatures.
Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) has justified these outages as necessary for replacing and upgrading power poles. However, many residents criticize the timing as problematic during a heat wave.

PG&E has communicated with customers through phone messages and letters, informing them of the schedule and duration of these planned outages.
"This is not the right time to be doing it," expressed one concerned customer.
A resident from Colfax received a notification stating that crews needed to replace a power pole. Reflecting on the situation, she questioned the timing of the maintenance during such extreme heat.
Thursday's planned outages in Weimar affected 42 customers and lasted six hours, from 8 a.m. to 2:40 p.m., according to PG&E reports.

Crews completed 22 tasks in what they called a "mega-bundle," working simultaneously to prevent future power disruptions.
Expressing empathy for affected residents enduring triple-digit temperatures during sporadic outages, the Colfax resident said, "I’m concerned for those that can't go somewhere and don’t have a generator."
While residents understand the necessity of the upgrades, many believe the utility company should postpone the work until after the heat wave.
"I don’t have any problems with the upgrades," another customer clarified.

Customers have received notices for additional planned outages later this month.
A spokesperson from PG&E explained the challenges of rescheduling due to concurrent job commitments and assured that additional manpower has been deployed to expedite the completion of the work.
