Grand Celebrations at Kartavya Path
President Droupadi Murmu led the Republic Day celebrations at Kartavya Path in New Delhi. This year’s theme, commemorating 75 years of the Constitution, focused on inclusivity (Jan Bhagidari), cultural diversity, unity, and the nation’s progress in development and defense.
The President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Reflecting the government’s emphasis on people’s participation, approximately 10,000 special guests—hailing from diverse walks of life—were invited to witness the parade. These guests represent the architects of Swarnim Bharat and include top performers and beneficiaries of various government initiatives.
Parade Highlights
The Republic Day parade commenced at 10:30 a.m. and unfolded over 90 minutes, beginning with PM Modi paying homage to the nation's martyrs at the National War Memorial. Following this solemn tribute, he joined other dignitaries at the saluting dais to witness the grand parade.
A return to tradition saw President Murmu and her Indonesian counterpart arriving at the venue in a Traditional Buggy, a practice revived in 2024 after four decades.
The ceremonial unfurling of the National Flag was followed by the National Anthem, accompanied by a 21-gun salute using the indigenous 105-mm Light Field Guns. Adding to the patriotic fervor, 300 cultural artists performed Sare Jahan Se Achha using a rich ensemble of traditional instruments, symbolizing India's unity in diversity.
In a breathtaking spectacle, Mi-17 1V helicopters from the 129 Helicopter Unit showered flower petals in the Dhwaj Formation, with Group Captain Alok Ahlawat leading the formation.
Saluting Heroes and Showcasing Strength
The parade honored recipients of the nation’s highest gallantry awards, including Param Vir Chakra winners Subedar Major (Honorary Captain) Yogendra Singh Yadav (Retd) and Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar (Retd), along with Ashok Chakra recipient Lt Col Jas Ram Singh (Retd).
Adding a global touch, the Marching Contingent of the Indonesian National Armed Forces and the Military Band of Indonesia’s Military Academy were standout participants, showcasing a blend of camaraderie and cultural exchange. Their contingent included 152 marching members and 190 musicians.
Military Excellence and Cultural Brilliance
Commanded by Lieutenant General Bhavnish Kumar, General Officer Commanding, Delhi Area, the parade displayed India's military might and cultural richness. It symbolized the nation's resolve to honor its heritage while embracing progress and unity.
As India celebrated its 76th Republic Day, the vibrant display of tradition, bravery, and inclusivity served as a testament to the nation’s journey and aspirations for the future.
