Ratan Tata, one of India’s most influential business leaders, passed away at the age of 86 on October 9, 2024. The former chairman of the Tata Group breathed his last at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, leaving the nation mourning the loss of a visionary leader whose influence extended far beyond the corporate world.

Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan took to social media to honor Tata, calling him a "gem" and praising his dedication to philanthropy, innovation, and nation-building. Roshan expressed admiration for Tata’s leadership and humility, qualities that endeared him to millions across India and abroad.

Tata's journey began in 1961 when he joined Tata Steel. Over the decades, he led Tata Group to new heights, overseeing major acquisitions and transforming it into a global conglomerate. His leadership was marked by a deep sense of social responsibility, as evidenced by Tata’s charitable trusts, which funded education, healthcare, and rural development initiatives across India.

Ratan Tata’s family, in a statement, thanked the nation for its outpouring of respect and admiration. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute, calling Tata an "uncommon leader" whose contributions will be remembered for generations. As Tata’s legacy lives on, his half-brother Noel Tata and other members of the family are expected to continue steering the Tata Group and its philanthropic efforts forward.
