Rishabh Pant's Instruction Backfires, Says "Merko Kya Pata Hindi Aati Hai"

Rishabh Pant never fails to entertain cricket fans, both with his impressive wicketkeeping and his infamous stump mic banter. In the second Test between India and New Zealand in Pune, Pant once again provided a memorable moment — this time, with unexpected results.

Returning to the Test fold after nearly three years, Washington Sundar was bowling a fantastic spell, already claiming five wickets. When New Zealand's Ajaz Patel came to the crease, Pant, known for his vocal support from behind the stumps, gave Sundar a piece of advice in Hindi: “Keep it full and wide.” Sundar followed the instruction, but to everyone’s surprise, Ajaz slammed the delivery down the ground for four.

The reason? Ajaz, who was born in Mumbai and lived in India for the first eight years of his life, likely understood Pant’s advice in Hindi! Pant, caught off guard, reacted with the humorous retort, “Merko kya pata Hindi aati hai” ("How would I know he understands Hindi?").

The incident quickly became a talking point, adding to the entertainment of the match as it was caught on the stump mic, much to the delight of fans. Pant's quick wit and the unexpected boundary became a viral moment in an otherwise dominating performance by India.

On the bowling front, despite the brief hiccup, Sundar continued his brilliant return to Test cricket, taking 7/59 — matching Ravichandran Ashwin's best-ever Test figures in a single innings. New Zealand, after a strong start, crumbled in the final session of the day, collapsing from 201/4 to 259 all out.

With Pant’s colorful on-field commentary and Sundar's stunning performance, India continues to hold the upper hand as the Test series unfolds.
