Taylor Swift's Legal Team Targets College Student Over Private Jet Tracking Fears

Table of Contents

Global superstar Taylor Swift is considering taking legal action against college student Jack Sweeney for publicly tracking her private jet online. Sweeney, who operates a social media account dedicated to monitoring celebrity flights, drew Swift's attention after his posts raised security concerns for the artist. Swift's legal team issued a cease-and-desist letter in December 2023, citing the constant fear and emotional distress caused by the tracking. The letter described the behavior as harassment, stating it was causing irreparable harm to Swift’s physical and emotional well-being.

The legal notice highlighted that the online tracking had intensified Swift's concerns for her personal safety, adding that there was no public necessity for such information to be shared. The team accused Sweeney of stalking Swift’s movements, stressing that the exposure of her private travel routes was unjustifiable.

In his defense, Sweeney argued that the flight information he shares is already public and insisted that he had no harmful intentions. He also noted that the legal threat followed a period of bad press for Swift regarding her carbon footprint, questioning the timing of the lawsuit. Sweeney added that while he respects Swift’s work, he believes in transparency and the public’s right to access information about high-profile individuals. Notably, Sweeney has faced similar disputes with Elon Musk in the past over private jet tracking.

The dispute continues to unfold, with Swift's team emphasizing that legal consequences will follow if the tracking persists.
