Khyree Jackson, who was vying for a starting cornerback position at the Minnesota Vikings training camp set to commence later this month in Eagan, Minnesota, tragically passed away in a vehicular accident.

Vikings Head Coach Kevin O’Connell expressed his profound sorrow, stating, "I am at a loss for words. My heart goes out to Khyree’s family, friends, teammates, and coaches."
The accident, which resulted in the deaths of Khyree Jackson and two other individuals, occurred. Police confirmed that Jackson died at the scene, along with Isaiah Hazel, 23, and Anthony Lytton, Jr., 24.

Isaiah Hazel, a former college football player at Maryland and Charlotte, and Anthony Lytton, who played at Florida State and Penn State, shared a strong bond with Jackson. The trio had previously won state championships together at Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School in Maryland.

According to police reports, the three were in the same vehicle at the time of the crash. Hazel was driving, with Jackson and Lytton as passengers. The accident involved a second vehicle, which was traveling north and attempted to change lanes "at a high rate of speed," resulting in a collision with Hazel's car and a third vehicle.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported from the occupants of the second and third vehicles involved.

Investigators suspect that alcohol may have been a contributing factor to the crash. Charges are pending the ongoing investigation and consultation with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office.

This tragic incident has cast a pall over the upcoming Vikings training camp, as the team and community mourn the loss of a promising young athlete.
