Trump Appoints 'Apprentice' Producer Mark Burnett as Special Envoy to UK
President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Mark Burnett, the producer of the reality TV show "The Apprentice," as the new Special Envoy to the United Kingdom. The announcement was made on Saturday, with Trump praising Burnett’s career in television and business.
Burnett’s role will focus on strengthening ties between the United States and the UK, particularly in trade, investment, and cultural exchanges. Unlike an ambassador, this position does not require Senate confirmation.
Born in London, Burnett is known for creating hit shows like "Survivor," "Shark Tank," and "The Voice." He also served as chairman of MGM Worldwide Television Group from 2018 to 2022. His success with "The Apprentice" played a key role in boosting Trump’s public image, portraying him as a successful businessman.
Earlier this month, Trump also nominated billionaire investment banker Warren Stephens as the US Ambassador to Britain. Both appointments reflect Trump’s focus on building strong relations with one of America’s closest allies.
