"About Ukraine, Without Ukraine": Zelensky Criticizes US-Russia Talks

Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday strongly criticized the ongoing discussions between US and Russian officials in Saudi Arabia, condemning them as talks about Ukraine without Ukrainian representation.

"Talks are taking place between representatives of Russia and representatives of the United States of America. About Ukraine—about Ukraine again—and without Ukraine," Zelensky stated during an official visit to Turkey.

The Ukrainian leader’s remarks highlight Kyiv’s frustration over being excluded from diplomatic discussions that could shape the future of the conflict. The talks, held in Riyadh, mark a rare high-level engagement between Washington and Moscow since the start of the full-scale war in 2022.

Ukraine has consistently asserted that any negotiations regarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity must involve its direct participation. The exclusion of Ukrainian officials from these discussions has fueled concerns in Kyiv about potential concessions that could compromise its national interests.

While the US has reiterated its commitment to supporting Ukraine, the nature of the talks remains undisclosed. Russia, on the other hand, has framed the negotiations as a step toward broader diplomatic engagement.
